We decided to return to France without being jet-lagged. NCL offered a promotion from New Orleans to Barcelona in a cabin with

a balcony on their 14 night repositioning cruise that we just couldn't resist. The Norwegian Spirit only stopped in Miami and the

Azores so it was really an opportunity for us to rest and relax. After we left Miami, we would change our clocks by one hour

each night. Our only issue was showing up for breakfast on deck one hour later.

We had never cruised on NCL. We loved having the flexibility of so many eating venues. Our days settled in to late

breakfast on the aft deck, reading e-books from our California libraries on our iPads, exercising at the health club in the

afternoon with floor to ceiling glass windows looking out to sea, and enjoying a leisurely dinner for two at any of the many

restaurants. It's not for everyone but we thoroughly enjoyed it.

We arrived in Barcelona rested and adjusted to the time change. We had reservations on the AVE (high-speed train like the

French TGV) in the afternoon and were at our Madrid hotel by late afternoon.

We spent 4 days in Madrid before flying to Paris. Our priority was to visit the Prado, Reina Sofia and the Thyssen Bornemisza

museums. We did one museum each of the days plus we spent the 4th on the open top red tour bus. The Prado was incredible,

but it was the Thyssen Bornemisza that captured our heart! Amazing!
